When my mother died in 1996, my father gave to me and my siblings a collection of keepsakes my mother had stored away in the bottom of her dresser drawer.
One of items she kept was a sweater my grandmother knitted for me when I was about two or three years old.
Since then, it's been sitting at the bottom of bedroom armoire, collecting dust. So I cleaned it and brought it to a frame shop. My friend David's mother gave me the idea. She has a flapper dress from the 1920's in a frame and it looked really cool.
I spared no expense, making sure the frame shop used non-reflecting U-V-shielding glass and I picked out a really nice suede matting and a really intricate, ornate frame. The sweater is sewn to the matting so it won't fall and the glass is at least an inch from the sweater, so there's a nice depth to it.
Anyway, I thought it was a better way to keep a keepsake.
I just hope to God it doesn't fall off the wall in the middle of the night. |
